Registration is now open and the final agenda has been published for the IETF 109 Online meeting hosted by Cisco.

IETF 109 Online

The IETF 109 Online meeting will include more than 100 sessions covering a wide range of work underway in the IETF and discussions about new topics. Working sessions will take place from 05:00 to 11:00 UTC each day. This time block was chosen to schedule the meeting during the normal business hours of Bangkok, the original meeting location.

More information about work planned For IETF 109 are available in these posts about Birds-of-a-Feather sessions proposed for IETF 109 and this more recent meeting preview post by IETF Chair Alissa Cooper.

Registration details

IETF 109 registration is open now. Reduced student registration rates and one-day passes are also available, and a fee waiver program aims to help ensure issues such as income, employment status, and employer support are not barriers to meeting participation. Full meeting registration details and other information are published on the IETF 109 meeting page.

IETF Hackathon

In addition to sessions during the IETF 109 meeting week, an IETF Hackathon was held the preceding week, from 9-13 November. Project champions led more than 20 projects as listed on the wiki with more than 250 registered participants. IETF Hackathon projects were again able to request access to special networking capabilities to enable collaborative work despite the challenges associated with teams not being in the same room.

Social events

Experiments with online platforms to promote informal social interactions begun at IETF 108 continue as part of IETF 109. In addition to open time before and after the working sessions, new features and specific events will add to the informal networking experience around the online IETF 109 meeting. Work is still underway to finalize these features, so be sure to visit the IETF 109 Online meeting page, register for IETF 109, and join the 109 attendees mailing list to join the conversation.

Newcomers programs

There was a session for newcomers ahead of the IETF 109 meeting to provide some additional information about how the IETF operates, and other events to help connect with the IETF community. A recording of the IETF newcomers webinar is available on the IETF YouTube channel.

Testing sessions

As with past online IETF meetings, testing sessions in advance of and during IETF meeting week, as well as guides on how to use the various tools, will help ensure a smooth experience for participants. After you register for IETF 109, plan to join a testing session to make sure all the details of your local setup are in place and properly configured for effective participation during the meeting. More details about how to prepare for and use the collaboration during IETF 109 are be available from the main IETF 109 website.
